Translator Training

Many translators at Dharmachakra received their training at the Buddhist study program offered by the Rangung Yeshe Institute (RYI) in Kathmandu.

The courses offered at RYI include a wide variety of topics in Buddhist Philosophy and Tibetan, Sanskrit and Nepali and are the most comprehensive education for Buddhist philosophy and languages available today.

The faculty at RYI consists of both monastic professors and international instructors trained in traditional academic disciplines. As a crucial element of the study of Buddhist philosophy, courses on classical Buddhist scriptures follow the format and curriculum of a traditional Buddhist monastic education. Currently, RYI is the only institution to offer this traditional form of learning as an integrated part of long-term academic studies.
